HẢI PHÒNG — National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vương Đình Huệ on Sunday morning attended a meeting with voters in Vĩnh Bảo District, Hải Phòng City.

Speaking to voters, Huệ said he was delighted to be introduced by the National Election Commission as a candidate for the 15th NA in Hải Phòng City, a place home to great people who are loyal, resilient, creative and open-minded.

Huệ said that, if elected the 15th NA, he would continue to research, innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness, promote democracy and creativity, ensuring that the NA is truly the highest representative organ of the people, the highest body of State power of Việt Nam.

Huệ said the NA would continue to perfect the legal system in the direction of synchronisation, consistency and high feasibility.

The legal system must protect the rights of citizens, improve defence and security, ensure social security and protect environmental resources and other areas of life and society, he said.

In 2020 and early 2021, the country has faced many difficulties due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Hải Phòng City has enjoyed a high growth rate compared to the whole country.

Huệ said that with the voters' confidence, with the responsibility of being an elected NA member for the northern port city, he would pay attention to the socio-economic development of the city and propose measures to develop the city.

He also promised to better himself to wholeheartedly work for the country and the city. — VNS
