Party Central Committee Office nominates five candidates for 15th NA election

The conference of voters was held in line with regulations on the nomination of candidates for the 15th NA elections, which require collecting the opinions of voters at the candidates’ workplace.

HÀ NỘI — An online conference of voters working at the Party Central Committee’s Office on Thursday approved with a high consensus the nomination of Party General Secretary and State President Nguyễn Phú Trọng and four other officials as candidates for election as deputies in the 15th National Assembly.

The conference of voters was held in line with regulations on the nomination of candidates for the 15th NA elections, which require collecting the opinions of voters at the candidates’ workplace. 

Besides General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng, the other fours are Võ Văn Thưởng, Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee‘s Secretariat; Bùi Thị Minh Hoài, member of the Secretariat; Lê Minh Hưng, member of the Secretariat and chief of the Party Central Committee’s Office; and Nguyễn Đắc Vinh, member of the Secretariat and deputy chief of the Party Central Committee’s Office.

Participants at the conference spoke highly of the candidates’ capability, knowledge, qualifications, political firmness and morality. They said the candidates satisfy all conditions and criteria for a National Assembly deputy in accordance with the law

Thưởng said they are well aware that the nomination is a mission assigned by the Party, which is an honour and a big responsibility for them.

He said the nominees are aware of the role and responsibility of deputies and vow to exert their best efforts to fulfil their tasks.

NA Standing Committee’s 54th session

The 54th session of the 14th National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee is slated for next Monday in Hà Nội, with personnel matters high on the agenda.

The committee will give opinions on personnel proposals, which will later be submitted to the National Assembly.

The one-day session will also examine a series of reports regarding the work of the NA and its Standing Committee during the 14th tenure; the results of monitoring the settlement of voters’ petitions sent to the 14th NA’s 10th meeting; and a summary of opinions and recommendations by voters and people sent to the NA’s 11th session.

Members of the NA Standing Committee will give their opinions in written form concerning a report on the supplementary assessment of the implementation of socio-economic development and State budget plans in 2020. — VNS
