HÀ NỘI — Police of central Khánh Hòa Province yesterday started criminal proceedings against Lê Huy Toàn, deputy chairman of Nha Trang City’s People’s Committee, for lacking responsibilities and causing serious consequences related to Hoàng Long urban area project.
The police also issued a house searching order and prohibited Toàn from leaving his residence.
Toàn was president of a council in charge of resettlement compensation and assistance for Hoàng Long urban area project in Phước Long Commune which is invested by Construction and Geology Investment UPGC One Member Joint Stock Company.
Khánh Hòa Province police are expanding investigation into the project’s violations.
Police also commenced criminal proceedings against two other officials – Lương Như Giáp, official of Nha Trang City’s Finance and Planning Division and Võ Mỹ, official of the city’s urban management division for similar charges.
Related to the project’s violations, police last month started proceedings against Vũ Thị Mai Hương, former chairwoman of Phước Long Commune’s People’s Committee and Nguyễn Đức Cường, the commune’s land official.
They are being investigated for violations related to compensation, assistance and resettlement of the project.
In December last year, Đỗ Thế Vinh and Nguyễn Ngọc Khánh - two officers of the Construction and Geology Investment UPGC Company – were arrested for faking documents to receive preferential mechanisms of compensation and resettlement assistance of Hoàng Long urban area project. — VNS
