HÀ NỘI – Việt Nam considered Chile one of its most important partners in the Latin America region, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Phạm Bình Minh at a meeting with Chilean Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero Espinoza on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on ASEAN in Hà Nội on Wednesday.

Minh noted with pleasure the strong growth in the Việt Nam-Chile comprehensive partnership over recent years, shown through the outcomes of high-level visits of the two countries’ leaders, including the recent visit to Chile by Deputy Prime Minister Vương Đình Huệ in July.

For his part, the Chilean FM congratulated Việt Nam for its successful hosting of the WEF ASEAN 2018.

He said that Chile wanted to boost relations with Việt Nam, as well as ASEAN member countries. He suggested that the two sides reinforce and promote progress in trade co-operation, while expanding investment collaboration.

The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations and bolster economic, trade and investment ties, while supporting small-and medium-sized enterprises and enhancing people-to-people exchanges.

They pledged to co-operate closely at multilateral forums, especially the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) forum, and in the process of approving and implementing the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). – VNS
