HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc has noted the sound development of the Việt Nam-Republic of Korea (RoK) strategic co-operative partnership, with economic co-operation a highlight.
Meeting outgoing RoK Ambassador Lee Hyuk in Hà Nội on Wednesday, the PM said the RoK is one of Việt Nam’s leading partners, ranking first in terms of direct investment.
Việt Nam wants the RoK to import more Vietnamese agro-forestry-fishery products, receive more Vietnamese workers, help Việt Nam in high-quality human resources development and speed up the transfer of technologies in support, automobile, mechanic, garment-textile and electronic sectors, he said, explaining that Việt Nam has a big trade deficit with the country.
Việt Nam is willing to help RoK businesses increase their investment in the country, thus expanding their operation in Southeast Asia, he said.
He also suggested increasing cultural exchange and the teaching of Vietnamese and Korean languages in the respective countries and simplifying visa procedures.
The PM stressed that Việt Nam backs measures to stablise the Korean Peninsula, aiming to promote dialogues and maintain peace in the region and the world.
For his part, Lee said more RoK businesses want to invest in Việt Nam, voicing his belief that the bilateral relationship will yield more fruits in the future.
The diplomat pledged that he, in any position, will continue to support relations between the Governments and people of the two countries. — VNS
