The Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security will prosecute Đào Tấn Cường, a resident of Đà Nẵng City’s Hải Châu District, for threatening to murder an official.

HÀ NỘI  — The Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security will prosecute Đào Tấn Cường, a resident of Đà Nẵng City’s Hải Châu District, for threatening to murder an official.

The information was stated by Major General Hồ Sỹ Tiến, director of the department.

Cường was identified as the person who sent messages threatening Huỳnh Đức Thơ, chairman of Đà Nẵng City People’s Committee, according to police investigations.

His messages were sent around the time the city made some decisions relating to the appointment of personnel, and there was also a letter denouncing Thơ’s property. The incident was thereafter reported to the Ministry of Public Security and the Government Office.

Earlier, on August 18, Cường was arrested by the Criminal Police Department in connection with the investigation into the charge of threatening Thơ.

At the time of his arrest, Cường was deputy director of Petrolimex Aviation Fuel JSC’s Đà Nẵng branch.

He is the brother of Đào Tấn Bằng, chief of Đà Nẵng City Party Committee’s Office. — VNS
