BEIJING – The parties of China and Việt Nam should enhance high-level delegation exchanges, reinforce political trust, promote strategic connectivity and effectively control disputes for healthy and stable ties between the two parties and countries, a senior party official of China has said.
Zhao Leji, member of the Communist Party of China’s Politburo, secretary of the Party Central Committee Secretariat and head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Department, made the remarks during talks with Phạm Minh Chính, politburo member, secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Việt Nam and head of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, in Beijing yesterday.
He said the Chinese party, State and people will spare no effort to deepen relations with Việt Nam.
For his part, Chính stressed that the two countries should strengthen their friendship and co-operation and jointly create a peaceful and stable environment for future development on the basis of the shared awareness on the importance of Việt Nam-China relations.
He confirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State always attach great importance to the comprehensive strategic co-operative partnership with China and regard this as a top priority and strategic choice in the country’s external affairs policy.
He proposed the two sides focus on increasing political trust via high-level delegation exchanges, improving the efficiency of co-operation mechanisms, particularly the meetings between politburo representatives, and sharing experiences in theoretical research and party building.
The official also recommended implementing more effectively the training co-operation plan for 2016-2020 while stepping up co-ordination in defence, security and external affairs, in addition to people-to-people exchanges, economics and investment.
He called on Việt Nam and China to join hands to address maritime issues, especially in implementing the agreement on fundamental principles guiding the settlement of sea issues, to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea, the region and beyond.
