Key leader leaves Hà Nội for official visit to Singapore

The landmark visit marks the first official trip to Singapore by a Permanent Member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat and the launch of a new strategic dialogue mechanism.

HÀ NỘI — Member of the Political Bureau and Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) Central Committee Trần Cẩm Tú, along with a high-ranking CPV delegation, left Hà Nội on August 24 morning for a two-day official visit to Singapore where he will co-chair the first Việt Nam-Singapore Strategic Dialogue between the CPV and the People’s Action Party (PAP) of Singapore.

The visit is made at the invitation of the PAP Central Executive Committee.

The delegation includes Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Organisation; Nguyễn Thanh Nghị, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Policy and Strategy; Đoàn Minh Huấn, Politburo member, President of the Hồ Chí Minh National Academy of Politics; and Lê Hoài Trung, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Also joining the delegation are Minister of Science and Technology Vũ Hải Quân; Permanent Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee's Office Nguyễn Thị Thu Hà; Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Organisation Nguyễn Thành Tâm; Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Inspection Đoàn Anh Dũng; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyễn Mạnh Cường; Assistant Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee Bùi Anh Tuấn; Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs Nguyễn Xuân Trường; Vice Chairwoman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Publicity Vũ Thanh Mai; Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyễn Văn Hồi; and Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Trần Phước Anh.

The visit marks several first milestones, as it is the first official visit to Singapore by a Permanent Member of the CPV Central Committee’s Secretariat. It is also the first meeting of the Việt Nam-Singapore Strategic Dialogue mechanism, which the two countries' leaders agreed to establish during the state visit to Singapore by the General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and President Tô Lâm in May.
