Top leader urges VN, China to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, strategic connectivity

HÀ NỘI — Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm urged the Chinese province of Guangdong and Vietnamese localities to strengthen practical cooperation in various areas, particularly in trade, investment and strategic connectivity.

He made these remarks during a meeting with Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Guangdong provincial Party Committee Huang Kunming on Sunday as part of the Vietnamese leader’s state visit to China.

The visit was made at the invitation of Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and his spouse.

General Secretary and State President Lâm emphasised that this was his first state visit to China in his new role, aiming to discuss with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and other key Chinese leaders measures to deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries.

The goal is to build a community with a shared future between Việt Nam and China, which has strategic significance and meets the interests of both peoples, contributing to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world, he noted.

He affirmed that Việt Nam will always prioritise the development of its relationship with China.

Expressing his emotions while paying respects at Phạm Hồng Thái Martyr’s Memorial in Huang Hua Gang Memorial Park and visiting the relic site of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Youth League headquarters in Guangzhou, General Secretary and State President Lâm sincerely thanked the Party, government and people of Guangdong province and Guangzhou city for carefully preserving the important historical relics from Việt Nam's revolutionary process.

These relics have become symbols of the traditional friendship, solidarity and close ties between the two Parties, nations and peoples.

Secretary of the Guangdong provincial Party Committee Huang Kunming, on behalf of the Party, government and people of Guangdong province, expressed his honour at the fact that General Secretary and State President Lâm and the high-ranking delegation of Vietnamese officials chose Guangzhou city as the first stop in their state visit.

Huang Kunming congratulated Tô Lâm on being elected General Secretary by the Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee, expressing confidence that under his leadership, Việt Nam will continue to achieve significant successes, effectively implementing the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress and successfully preparing for the 14th Party Congress.

General Secretary and State President Lâm highly appreciated the fruitful cooperation between Guangdong and various localities in Việt Nam, which has contributed to the overall development of Việt Nam-China relations.

He welcomed Guangdong enterprises to expand high-quality investments in Việt Nam, particularly in such areas as digital transformation, green growth and infrastructure.

Additionally, the two sides will enhance people-to-people exchanges and strengthen cooperation in training, thereby solidifying the foundation of friendship between the two peoples from the grassroots level and localities, adding momentum to the long-term, sustainable development of Việt Nam-China relations.

Huang Kunming affirmed that the Party and government of Guangdong province place great importance on relations with Việt Nam and its localities and always aspire to enhance friendly exchanges and practical cooperation across various fields with potential-rich localities in Việt Nam. This is in line with the common understanding between the top leaders of the two Parties and countries, promoting Việt Nam-China relations to new heights. — VNS
