ThePerformance is set to be extra special and emotional as it will see JoséCarreras say goodbye to Hong Kong, meaning this is one of the very last chancesto indulge, with fellow fans and enthusiasts, into the divine and high-octanelive vocal of the great tenor. He will be accompanied by an orchestra of 50musicians on the stage to present a truly international operatic gala, wherethe maestro will be joined by the brilliant young local soprano Alison Lau. In addition, Chiu Tsang Hei, the cream of homegrownmusician, is the orchestra music consultant for this show.

About José Carreras

José Carreras,one of the legendary 'The Three Tenors', was born in Barcelona in 1946. Hebegan singing onstage at the age of 11, but his role as Gennaro in Donizetti's LucreziaBorgia in 1970, opposite 'La Superba' Montserrat Caballé, is generallyconsidered his real debut as a tenor. Carreras is widely represented inoperatic and concert recordings, with more than 50 complete opera recordings tohis name. From 1990 to 2003, he toured the world alongside Placido Domingo andLuciano Pavarotti as part of 'The Three Tenors'. He won the 'Best ClassicalVocal Performance' award in Grammy Awards 1990.

About Soprano Alison Lau—Special Guest in Hong Kong Performance

Soprano AlisonLau is one of the most promising operatic talents of her generation. She wasthe winner of the 'Gerhart Hauptmann-Theater' Special Prize at the 22^ndConcorso Internazionale per Cantanti Lirici Spazio Musica in Italy, the FirstPrize at Yokohama International Music Competition in Japan, and the OutstandingPerformance Award at the Metropolitan International Music Festival VocalCompetition in New York. She was awarded the Certificate of Commendation by theHKSAR Government.

Alison will begiving a special crossover performance with José Carreras.
