HCM CITY  Many local movies and productions have had their launch schedule postponed due to the recent resurgence of COVID-19.

According to fllm director Trần Thanh Huy, the movie Ròm's premiere event for the press on July 29 and its public release on July 31 have been cancelled.

The film has been through many challenges, Huy said, adding that COVID-19 posed another threat for the success of the movie.

The organisers of the drama Giấc mơ của mẹ have cancelled their casting event in HCM City that was scheduled between July 28 and 30. The drama is directed by Nguyễn Phương Điền, who is famous for many movies such as Tiếng sét trong mưa, and Cá Rô, em yêu anh and Dù gió có thổi, among others.

A music event in Đà Nẵng, set to take place on July 31, has also been cancelled, while singer Sơn Tùng M-TP’s first staging of his latest song Có chắc đây là yêu will be broadcast via livestreaming.

Designer Chung Thanh Phong has delayed his Dear My Princess fashion show, which was supposed to take place during the ELLE Wedding Art Gallery 2020 event on August 1 in HCM City.

“Even though everything was prepared, we felt the need to postpone this show in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among all guests, models, clients and colleagues,” Phong said.

Other designers such as Lê Ngọc Lâm, Phạm Đăng Anh Thư, Thuỷ Nguyễn, Linh Nga and Trương Thanh Hải shared the same sentiment.

“To live in the unfortunate time of COVID-19 is to always prepare for the worst scenarios,” designer Thuỷ Nguyễn said. “My colleagues and I will need to change or create new perspectives, production and promotion of our products.”

Many artists who recently returned from Đà Nẵng such as Kaity Nguyễn, Thuỳ Dung and Cara Phương have had to self-quarantine at home for the next 14 days. — VNS
