Hungarian pianist debuts in Hà Nội

Hungarian pianist Janos Balazs will debut to perform a repertoire including classical and modern pieces at Việt Nam National Academy of Music (VNAM)’s Great Hall on December 4.

HÀ NỘI — Hungarian pianist Janos Balazs will debut to perform a repertoire including classical and modern pieces at Việt Nam National Academy of Music (VNAM)’s Great Hall on December 4. 

Balazs is one of the most successful and acclaimed pianist in classical music and he is known for his performances in the world’s most pỏmrestigious concert venues and philharmonic orchestras such as the Brussels Philharmonic, the Dortmund Philharmonic and the Nagoya Symphonic Orchestra.  

In the first performanc in Việt Nam, the pianist will play pieces by Bach-Busoni; Chopin; Liszt; Brahms-Cziffra and Strauss-Cziffra.

"Balazs is one of the few artists equally loved by audiences, fellow professionals, and music critics and is one of the few classical musicians who is willing and who is able to improvise at live concert," said Hungarian ambassador to Hà Nội Ory Csaba.

Balazs is founder of the Gyorgy Cziffra Festival. The pianist Cziffra is Balazs’s idol and is considered to be one of the greatest pianists of all time. The festival has since blossomed into one of the most prestigious classical music events in Hungary.

Balazs was a member of the jury of the Virtuosos television show which is a Hungarian classical music-based television talent show where the Vietnamese opera student Ninh Đức Hoàng Long won the first prize in his age range category.

After the concert, the pianist will hold a master class at the Piano Department at the VNAM.

The concert is held as one of a wide range cultural activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relationship between Việt Nam and Hungary in 2020. — VNS
