NINH BÌNH — An exhibition featuring documents, objects and antiques related to Đông Sơn Culture (700BC-200AD) and various Vietnamese historical reigns is being organised at the Ninh Bình Provincial Museum.
According to Nguyễn Cao Tấn, vice director of the Ninh Bình Department of Culture and Sports, the exhibition is a part of practical activities to welcome the National Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival 2018 as well as celebrate the 1050th anniversary of the establishment of Đại Cồ Việt, Việt Nam’s first feudal state.
The event will introduce visitors to over 500 objects of various materials like stone, bronze, terra-cotta, ceramic or bone which might belong to precious collections displayed in separated areas.
The highlighted objects include Đông Sơn bronze items like drums, knives, jars and bells; items dated back to Hán-Việt eras like flower vases, bowls, jars and coins; objects from the Đinh-Lê eras like stone Buddhist pillars, fans and seals; items dating back to Lý-Trần eras like bowls, chopsticks and Chu Đậu pottery and items dated back to Later Lê- Nguyễn eras, such as worshipping items.
This cultural event also aims to introduce and promote Ninh Bình Province’s collection of unique antiques to the public, and at the same time, enhance the locals’ awareness and responsibilities of preserving and promoting the values of such precious objects.
