VĨNH LONG — Vĩnh Long Province on Tuesday launched an exhibition to celebrate the 95th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Võ Văn Kiệt (November 23, 1922) at the PM Võ Văn Kiệt Memorial Site in Vũng Liêm District.
The event was organised by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the former PM’s family.
Deputy Prime Minister Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh, Vietnamese heroic mothers, and officials from relevant departments attended the opening ceremony.
According to the chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Văn Quang, the former PM made significant contributions to the nation’s development.
Multiple projects, including the upgrade and treatment of saline areas in Đồng Tháp Mười and Long Xuyên, installation of a 500kV power system from North to South, and the building of the Bắc Thăng Long – Nội Bài Road, accelerated economic, cultural and social development during the Renovation Period.
The exhibition includes photographs of the former PM Võ Văn Kiệt’s memorable moments, aiming to educate younger generations about Việt Nam’s traditional values. Photos taken by the former PM are also featured.
Vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Long Lữ Quang added that Vĩnh Long would continue to preserve the memorial site and promote its value to the public.
The PM Võ Văn Kiệt Memorial Site, built in 2012, covers 1.7ha of land.
The site is located near Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa Park, Vũng Linh Pond Relic Site and Agricultural Museum, among other attractions. — VNS
