HCM CITY — More than 300 fashion models will take part in Fashionology Festival 2017 on Nguyễn Huệ Pedestrian Street in HCM City next week, as part of the city’s cultural activities to celebrate the 87th anniversary of Vietnamese Women’s Day on October 20.
The models, including top faces Thanh Hằng and Hoàng Thùy, will wear more than 1,000 items of clothing from designers’ latest collections, with the themes Bản Sắc Viễn Đông (Beauty of the Far East), Làn Sóng Mới (New Waves) and Ngôi Sao Tương Lai (Future Star).
They will also wear áo dài (Vietnamese traditional dress) from 30 talented fashion designers, including Thuận Việt, Trương Thanh Hải, Hà Nhật Tiến and Tuấn Trần.
The designs features the city’s history and achievements. The three-day festival will include out-door fashion, theatre, music and song shows.
Music and song performances will feature young singers and dancers from leading traditional art troupes in the region.
Electronic music and light performances in 3D and mapping technology will also be highlighted.
The event’s opening night on October 20 is expected to attract 10,000 visitors.
Organised by the HCM City’s Department of Tourism, the festival is expected to attract more than 300,000 people.
“We spent VNĐ30 billion (US$1.3 million) on the festival. We will organise the festival every October to promote the city’s fashion industry and tourist activities,” said Bùi Tá Hoàng, director of the HCM City’s Department of Tourism. — VNS
