Cave festival season to kick off in Quảng Bình

Various interesting arts, sports and tourism activities will be held during the cave festive season 2017 that will kick off in the central province of Quảng Bình on June 17.

QUẢNG BÌNH — Various interesting arts, sports and tourism activities will be held during the cave festive season 2017 that will kick off in the central province of Quảng Bình on June 17.

Based on the theme ’Kingdom of the Caves: Magnificence–Legendary’, the event aims to promote Quảng Bình Province’s natural resources and tourism products to attract more tourists.

The opening ceremony will be celebrated at Bảo Ninh Sea Square on June 17 with performances by many renowned Vietnamese musicians. A ceremony to grant the world record status to the cave system in the province will also be held within the programme.

Other activities include inauguration of tourism routes, destinations, accommodation establishments and new services from June 1 to June 30; surveys on tourist attractions to develop products through Cát Bi–Đồng Hới air route from June 17 to June 20; marching, sailboat and kayak racing and sporting activities and underwater tourism at Nhật Lệ Beach from June 11 to June 22; Quảng Bình–Hải Phòng tourism and cultural exchange programmes from June 15 to June 20; and a ’journey back to the old battlefield’ programme on June 18.

In addition to these, musical performances, street art and EDM Beach Party will be held.

According to the Quảng Bình provincial People’s Committee, from June 1, the Hà Nội– Đồng Hới air route operated by Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Vasco were launched to meet the increasing travel demands of tourists.

In the first five months of the year, Quảng Bình received and provided services to more than 81,000 tourists, up 111 per cent, compared with the same period last year. Major tourist attractions include Đồng Hới City, Vũng Chùa–Yến Island, Phong Nha–Kẻ Bàng National Park, Chày River–Dark Cave and Heaven Cavern. — VNS
