Devotion Awards announce nominees

The nominations for eight categories of the Devotion Music Awards 2016 were announced by the Vietnam News Agency’s daily The Thao and Van Hoa (Sport and Culture) yesterday.

HÀ NỘI — The Devotion Music Awards 2016 nominees were announced by the Vietnam News Agency’s daily Thể Thao Văn Hóa (Sport and Culture) yesterday.

The winners of the annual awards, the 11th of their kind, are decided by cultural journalists based on their creativity and practical contributions to the music scene.

The categories are best song of the year, best new artist, best new album, best series of music programmes, best show of the year, best musician, best singer of the year and best music video of the year.

Up for best music video of the year, a new category, are Buông Đôi Tay Nhau Ra, directed by Đinh hà Uyên Thư; Mona Lisa by Tien M. Nguyen; Ngày Mai by Đinh Hà Uyên Thư; and Thật Bất Ngờ by Nhu Đặng.

Nominees for best new artist of the year include Trọng Hiếu, Issac, Tiên Tiên and Touliver.

The Remix TV series is one of four nominees for best series of music programmes. 

Meanwhile, the best musician award competitors are Mew Amazing, Giáng Son, Võ Thiện Thanh and Quốc Trung. Tùng Dương, Trần Thu Hà, Hồng Nhung and Sơn Tùng M-TP will vie for the title of best singer. 

Bóng Tối Jazz, an album by Giáng Son, Trần Thu Hà and Tùng Dương, was nominationed for best album. 

The four nominees for song of the year are Âm Thầm Bên Em (written and performed by Sơn Tùng M-TP), My Everything (by Tiên Tiên), Thật Bất Ngờ (written by Mew Amazing and performed by Trúc Nhân) and Tôi Thấy Hoa Vàng Trên Cỏ Xanh (written by Châu Đăng Khoa and performed by Ái Phương).

The awards ceremony will be held on April 23 at FLC Sầm Sơn Resort in the central province of Thanh Hóa.— VNS
