HẢI PHÒNG The Việt Nam Family Day (June 28) will be marked with a five-day festival taking place this week in the northern port city of Hải Phòng.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be held from June 25 to 29 at the Hải Phòng Information, Exhibition and Cinema Centre.
This is a practical activity to celebrate the day, honouring the traditional cultural values of Vietnamese families.
With the theme "Happy Family - Prosperous Nation", the festival contributes to raising community awareness about the role and position families play in building and protecting the homeland.
This is also an opportunity for localities to exchange and share experiences in family work, aiming for the sustainable development of the family in the period of industrialisation, modernisation and international integration.
Family cultural traditions in the Vietnamese ethnic community have been forged over thousands of years of history. This is also the cradle that nurtures the formation and development of each individual's personality, the foundation for social development.
During the festival, many meaningful activities will take place. There will be an exhibition displaying documents, images and artefacts about the care, building and development of the Vietnamese family by the entire society.
