LÀO CAI — Lào Cai Province will host the National Youth Classical and Freestyle Wrestling Championship from June 8-15.

The event is expected to attract the participation of nearly 500 athletes from across the country. It is being organised to commemorate the 117th anniversary of the founding of Lào Cai Province (July 12, 1907 - July 12, 2024).

The goals of the event are both to develop wrestling as a sport in the province and promote tourism to both national and international visitors.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for June 8.

Following the ceremony, the organising committee will host a programme to mark Olympic Running Day 2024. Participants will include representatives from the Việt Nam Olympics Committee, the Việt Nam Wrestling Federation, the Sports Authority of Việt Nam, as well as local residents and all the competing athletes who will run around the campus of the Provincial Gymnasium.
