BANGKOK — A fashion show with the theme “Áo Dài meets Thai silk” has been held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The show, which was organised by Việt Nam’s Embassy in Thailand, the Association of Thai Silk Promotion and the Association of Thai Culture and Promotion, was within the framework of the third Thai Silk International Fashion Week that runs from December 6 to 12.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chí Thành said the event was organised to create a space for art, culture, fashion and people exchange between Việt Nam and Thailand.
At the show, the top beauty queens and models of Việt Nam introduced various collections of Áo Dài (Vietnamese traditional long dress) from famous designers in Việt Nam including Lê Thị Lan Hương (Hà Nội), Trần Thiện Khánh (Huế) as well as designers from HCM City such as Ngô Nhật Huy, Ruby Trần, Lai Y Phương and Duy Hoàng.

Designer Lan Hương said her collection titled "Prosperous Planet" carried a message of gratitude for great values that nature has bestowed on humankind.
This is a special collection designed entirely from Thai silk, with exquisite hand-embroidered details inspired by terraced fields, rice plants and people in mountainous areas of north Việt Nam.
The Thai Silk International Fashion Week this year has a special meaning as a tribute to the 90th birthday of Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand.
The event not only aimed to promote Thai silk, but also created opportunities to strengthen co-operation and cultural exchanges between Thailand and other countries, especially in the fields of art, fashion, and textiles. VNS
