Concert to feature famous musicians from the 90s

Famous songs by Bảo Chấn and Đức Trí, well-known musicians in the 1990s and 2000s, will be featured at a concert in HCM City this weekend.

HCM CITY — Famous songs by Bảo Chấn and Đức Trí, well-known musicians in the 1990s and 2000s, will be featured at a concert in HCM City this weekend. 

The event, Bảo Chấn and Đức Trí Concert, is organised by Gia Định Audio in co-operation with Đức Trí Records.

It will feature young singers Cece Trương, Lân Nhã and Hakoota Dũng Hà

Pop star Uyên Linh, winner of Vietnam Idol 2010, will also perform. 

The singers will perform hits by Chấn and Trí, who played a key role in Vietnamese contemporary music. 

“My songs are performed by young singers today,” said Chấn, who has 40 years in the industry.

Chấn, 72, was a pioneer in harmony and sound mixing, which were still new in the industry in the 1980s and 90s.

He has composed more than 70 songs. His music combines traditional and western styles, using Vietnamese folk elements.

Many of his hits, such as Đêm Nay Anh Mơ Về Em (I Dream of You Tonight) and Bên Em Là Biển Rộng (By Your Side is the Wide Sea), won top prizes at national music competitions and awards presented by the HCM City Television and HCM City Voice of the People.

Trí, a graduate in composing from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, began his career in 1995. 

He has produced music for leading Vietnamese singers such as Hồng Nhung, Phương Thanh, Đức Tuấn and Mỹ Tâm.

His hits include ballads such as Ta Chẳng Còn Ai (No One Beside) and Ước Mơ Trong Đời (Wish of My Life).

He produced many albums and MVs featuring talented musicians, including Phạm Duy and Nguyễn Ánh 9. 

He has also composed soundtracks for Vietnamese award-winning movies such as Áo Lụa Hà Đông (The White Silk Dress), and Dạ Cổ Hoài Lang (Night Drumbeats Cause Longing for Absent Husband).

Trí has won many top prizes at the country’s leading music awards, such as Cống Hiến (Dedication) and Mai Vàng (Golden Ochna).

Bảo Chấn and Đức Trí Concert will open at 8pm on November 5 at the VOH Music One in 37 Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm Street, District 1. — VNS
