HÀ NỘI — Up to 71 per cent of computers and mobile devices in Việt Nam are infected with malware, announced the Authority of Information Security (AIS).

Every second four new malware viruses are released and as many as 170 cyber attacks occur in Việt Nam, of which three have specific targets, according to the AIS.

Cyber security firm Trend Micro in a recent report ranked Việt Nam top of Southeast Asian countries falling victim to cyber attacks. Việt Nam was also among the top 20 countries in the world infected with ransomware, according to Trend Micro.

According to the AIS, there were 1,020 virus-infected websites that were collecting personal information of Vietnamese internet users.

AIS head Nguyễn Thanh Hải said that more than 90 per cent of information security breaches happen because of human error, of which a lack of awareness of the risks was a main reason. — VNS
