HCM CITY – As many as 250 orphans and children received gifts last week on the occasion of Children's Day at Kỳ Quang II Pagoda in HCM City's Gò Vấp District.

Organised by the Việt Nam International Support Foundation (VIS), the children received clothes, rice and confectionary donated by domestic and foreign sponsors, including Japanese entrepreneurs.

Vũ Thị Thuỳ Linh, founder of VIS, said: “There are many children living in disadvantaged areas in the country. We hope the small gifts will bring them a special Children's Day and give them more energy to develop in the future.”

A businessman named Akira from Japan said he and partners would continue to organise programmes to support children living with difficulties in Việt Nam.

“We hope to give them the best. Although the value is not too high, it can encourage them to overcome difficulties,” he said.

VIS said the programme was one of many charity programmes that it has organised.

Earlier, VIS gave financial support and gifts to children at Children's Hospital 2, HCM City Oncology Hospital, and Chúc Từ House.

VIS also supports people living in difficulties during COVID-19 with a total value of hundreds of million đồng.

The VIS foundation, launched in 2019, has connected many domestic and foreign sponsors to support children, patients and the elderly living in difficulties. — VNS
