HÀ NỘI – The Vietnamese Government would create optimal conditions for US enterprises to invest successfully in Việt Nam and was willing to listen to their recommendations to improve the local business environment, said Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc.

While receiving a delegation from the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), led by its president and CEO Alexander Feldman, in Hà Nội on Thursday, PM expressed his belief that the delegation’s visit would contribute to promoting economic, trade and investment relations between Việt Nam and the US.
He recalled his meeting with US President Donald Trump in Hà Nội on the occasion of the second DPRK-US summit in Hà Nội in February, during which the two sides agreed on a number of measures to enhance bilateral relations across all fields.
Feldman congratulated Việt Nam on the successful organisation of the second DPRK-US summit and said he was proud of the USABC’s contributions to economic development in Việt Nam through the implementation of investment projects in the Southeast Asian country.
The USABC arranged three business delegations to Việt Nam this week to explore investment co-operation opportunities in the country, especially as Việt Nam had joined the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), he said.
The USABC also looked forward to new co-operation opportunities when Việt Nam took on its role as Chair of ASEAN in 2020, he added.
PM Phúc said Việt Nam hoped US businesses would continue to make strong investments in the country.
He also eased some concerns raised by US enterprises regarding specific fields.
The PM said this was a favourable time for bilateral relations, and as such US enterprises should seize this opportunity to promote their investment in Việt Nam and help the country join the global value chain.

On the same day, during another reception for the USABC delegation, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Phùng Quốc Hiển said the USABC had worked as an important bridge helping US firms invest and enhancing co-operation between the two nations.

Hiển also spoke highly of the great contributions made by US enterprises to Việt Nam’s economy, noting that Việt Nam always considered the US one of its leading economic and trade partners.
Praising their co-operation in general, as well as the economic links between Việt Nam and the US, the official expressed his delight at the continuous growth of two-way trade, which increased from US$450 million in 1995 to over $60 billion last year.
Hiển told his guest that during the process of international integration, Việt Nam has focused on scientific and technological development and spearhead economic sectors.
He described US businesses as pioneers in science, technology and quality, saying they were among Việt Nam’s most crucial and essential partners.
Through investment activities, Vietnamese enterprises could learn from their partners’ business and management skills, he said.
The legislator stressed that Việt Nam always created optimal conditions for foreign firms, including those from the US, to invest and expand their business and production in the country.
The National Assembly and Government would continue to complete the legal system in an open, transparent manner and in line with international practices, while stepping up administrative reforms in order to facilitate the operation of foreign businesses, he said.

Members of the USABC delegation voiced their hope for more support from the Vietnamese legislature in increasing the business activities of US firms and enhancing the comprehensive co-operation between Việt Nam and the US. – VNS
