HCM CITY – The 5th Fair and Exhibition of Seeds and Hi-Tech Agriculture opened on June 21 at the Biotechnology Center in HCM city, providing opportunities for local farm producers and distributors to enhance co-operation.
The five-day fair features 400 booths from enterprises in HCM City and 20 other cities and provinces.
On display are hi-tech farming models, new seedlings, biotech products, ornamental trees, fresh and processed farm produce and food, post-harvest technologies, and agricultural equipment.
Nguyễn Phước Trung, director of the city’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the city has been working since the early 2000s to become a centre for high-quality seedlings.
Last year, HCM City’s gross regional domestic product reached more than VNĐ 8,500 billion, an increase of 6.3 per cent over the same period in 2016.
HCM City produced and supplied 81,200 tonnes of all kinds of seedlings, one million breeding pigs, and 20,000 breeding milk cows and more than 100 million breeding fish last year. – VNS
