CẦN THƠ — Travel and transportation services company WorldTrans announced its schedule for direct charter flights between Cần Thơ and Bangkok this year at a press conference in Mekong Delta city on Wednesday.
WorldTrans will operate eight flights between the two destinations in June and July using the 180-seater Airbus 320 aircraft from VietJet Air. Flight duration will be one hour and 25 minutes, with a round-trip ticket costing VNĐ4.6 million (US$201.48).
The direct route, which will have HCM City as transit stop, will help save a great deal of time.
WorldTrans General Director Vũ Đức Biên said the company aimed to become a leading charter flight service provider in Việt Nam. He announced that the company was planning to launch 150 charter flights between Việt Nam and global tourism hubs, such as Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, Thailand as well as ASEAN member countries.
Air trips between Cần Thơ and other destinations account for 30 per cent of the company’s total flights, he said.
According to Đào Anh Dũng, Vice Chairman of the Cần Thơ People’s Committee, local tourism has experienced robust growth in recent years. The city has welcomed many tourists to Cần Thơ and the Mekong Delta region as well as sent a large number of locals to domestic and overseas destinations.
Dũng noted that Cần Thơ international airport had received significant investments but was yet to capitalise on its full capacity.
Cần Thơ wants to work with air transportation companies to organise more flights in future, he said. — VNS
