HCMC completes 2017-20 resettlement plan

HCM CITY — The southern city’s Department of Construction has completed the resettlement housing plan for urban development projects for the 2017-20 period.

The plan was recently submitted to the municipal People’s Committee for approval.

During the 2006-16 period, more than 25,360 apartments and 14,680 land plots were complêtd but 10,305 apartments and 3,625 land plots were unutilized, statistics showed.

Under the plan, the construction department proposed 3,500 unoccupied apartments to be used for resettlement for key projects implemented in the 2017-20 period.

Some 291 apartments would be used for temporary resettlement.

More than 2,140 apartments and 1,700 land plots would be allocated to districts for resettlement of 153 unfinished projects.

The rest would be put up for auction to recover capital for the State budget.

The southern city plans to develop resettlement housing projects for more than 20,000 households whose houses were cleared for urban development projects by 2020. — VNS
