HCM CITY – The 9th annual Việt Nam Information Security Day will be marked in HCM City on November 17 and in Hà Nội in early December amid an increase in the incidence of cyber attacks aimed at large corporations world-wide, including in Việt Nam.

The attacks threaten not only companies’ business operations and assets but also national security and sovereignty.
Việt Nam Information Security Day has already kicked off with an information security rehearsal at the end of September and early October using a fake city network.

A national competition, "Students and Information Security" featuring 50 teams from universities and other institutions around the country, will see its qualifying round held at HCM City’s Tôn Đức Thắng University on November 5.
This is an annual event held under the patronage of the Ministry of Information and Communications and is organised this year by the Việt Nam Information Security Association (VNISA).

The main activity will be a conference on a "New era of information security” that will discuss information security in online banking – financial transactions, malware and security in smart systems and automation.
Also at the conference, VNISA will announce the results of the Việt Nam Information Security Index in 2016.
There will be reports by major global IT corporations such as Kaspersky, Microsoft, CISCO, Fortinet, HPE, PADO, NanoTech, Symantec, NP Core, Citrix and CA Technology, who will also share their experiences, solutions and tools to ensure information security. -- VNS
