HÀ NỘI – Việt Nam ICT COMM 2016, an exhibition on products and technologies from the telecommunication, IT and communication sector officially opened in the capital city on July 20.

The three-day exhibition displays information and communication technology products, telecom services, Internet services and applications, as well as games, software, electronics and ancillary industries.

Some 150 exhibitors came from 15 countries and territories including Japan, South Korea, India, and Turkey, apart from mainland China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand. Exhibitors from Hong Kong, Germany, Australia, and Switzerland, in addition to the United States and hosts Việt Nam, were also present.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Phan Tâm said the Việt Nam ICT COMM 2016 was an important investment promotion activity with the presence of hundreds of booths of telecom and IT companies from many countries and territories. The full participation of these companies proved that Việt Nam’s telecom market has great potential to grow. And a large number of local companies joining the event demonstrated significant development in the Vietnamese ICT industry.

Tâm said that this was a good start for the first year after the deployment of the national plan on broadband telecommunications by 2020, approved by the prime minister in January this year. Along with a plan to deploy advanced 4G broadband infrastructure in the fourth quarter of this year, the Ministry of Information and Communication believed that many ICT products, services and solutions being displayed at the show would soon become a reality.

Several seminars on the latest trends of technology, IT products, the direction and policies of the government are conducted on the sidelines of the event. The seminars focus on trends in technologies, products and services and introduce 4G-LTE technology, high-speed Internet access, big data, and IT solutions to support e-government and business as well as security solutions, in addition to digital content services, radio, digital TV, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Tâm said he hoped that exhibition and seminars at Việt Nam ICT COMM 2016 would be a useful forum to connect businesses and an effective interaction channel between policy-makers and the business community that contributes towards improving the legal climate for sustainable development of the ICT sector in Việt Nam. – VNS
