HÀ TĨNH — At the eighth stop of its 'Legacy on the Move' journey, Saigon Beer – Alcohol – Beverage Corporation (SABECO) collaborated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) to provide aid to storm-affected communities in Nghệ An and Hà Tĩnh.
It was part of SABECO’s ongoing efforts to support post-disaster recovery, as the firm spreads the spirit of solidarity and care through its campaign honouring 150 years of living legacy.
The handover took place in Nghệ An on October 31 and in Hà Tĩnh on November 1, with VNĐ500 million for each province. The support is part of the VNĐ3 billion donation SABECO announced on October 16, following the symbolic handover to the VFF Central Committee on October 24.
In alignment with the VFF Central Committee, the funding will be transferred directly to the official bank accounts of the VFF Committees of Nghệ An and Hà Tĩnh provinces. This contribution will go toward repairing essential infrastructure, rebuilding homes and assisting affected families in restoring stability.

Hoàng Phú Hiền, vice chairman of the People’s Committee of Nghệ An Province, said: “We highly appreciate the initiatives that SABECO has implemented in Nghệ An over the years. In addition to its business operations and contributions to the provincial budget, SABECO has also carried out many meaningful community programmes in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Nghệ An.
"On behalf of the people of Nghệ An, we sincerely thank SABECO for its valuable support and commitment to delivering this assistance swiftly to the families affected by the storms. We hope that SABECO will continue to accompany and support communities not only in Nghệ An, but also across the country.”
Nguyễn Thàn Đồng, member of the Provincial Standing Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hà Tĩnh Province, said: “In recent times, many localities, including Hà Tĩnh, have suffered severe damage from storms. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to SABECO for its kindness and meaningful contribution to post-disaster recovery efforts.
"We truly value SABECO’s continuous companionship — not only through its contributions to the province’s socio-economic development, budget and job creation, but also through its genuine care and support for the well-being of the local people.”
Beyond financial support for local communities, SABECO’s leadership team also visited area factories and employees in Nghệ An and Hà Tĩnh to express care for those affected, reaffirming the company’s deep commitment to the well-being of its people and communities.
SABECO General Director Lester Tan said: “This contribution carries deep meaning for all of us at SABECO, as Nghệ An and Hà Tĩnh are not only among the provinces most affected by the recent storms, but also home to many of our employees, partners and longstanding operations. Our breweries and member companies in these provinces have been an integral part of SABECO’s growth in central Việt Nam, and we feel a strong responsibility to stand by our people and communities here during times of hardship.
"This donation reflects our solidarity and shared commitment to support both our employees and the local communities where we operate. Through this effort, we hope to provide timely and meaningful assistance to those impacted by the recent storms. SABECO will continue to accompany Việt Nam on its path of growth, not only by building a sustainable business, but also by contributing to the well-being and prosperity of the people and communities we proudly serve.”
Part of SABECO’s broader collaboration with VFF to aid disaster recovery in regions across Việt Nam impacted by recent storms, this support also reinforces the spirit of SABECO’s '150 Years of Living Legacy' campaign, celebrating the values of empathy, unity and resilience that continue to define and uplift the Vietnamese spirit.
The 'Legacy on the Move' journey, a key activity under the '150 Years of Living Legacy' campaign known for its signature red double-decker bus, remained operating in Nghệ An as a symbol of connection and care for the community. An integral part of the journey is the 'Wall of Unity', where people were invited to write heartfelt messages of care and encouragement to local authorities, frontline workers, volunteers and communities striving to rebuild their lives after the floods.
Participants were also encouraged to share their photos and messages on social media with the hashtag #TogetherWithVietnam, spreading empathy and solidarity across the country. Each note and post served not only as a message of encouragement, but also as a piece of the resilient Vietnamese spirit, reflecting the belief that unity helps overcome all challenges.
'Legacy On The Move' is organised by SABECO as a nationwide community-connecting journey to celebrate 150 years of growth alongside Việt Nam’s brewery industry and reaffirm its commitment to accompanying the nation's progress. Each stop of the journey offers heritage experiences and conveys the spirit of care, empathy and solidarity – the core values that SABECO has consistently pursued.
Thus far, 'Legacy On The Move' has travelled through eight of its nine locations, including HCM City, Vĩnh Long, Vũng Tàu, Đắk Lắk, Khánh Hòa, Bình Định, Hà Tĩnh and Nghệ An. The final stop of this meaningful journey will be in the capital city of Hà Nội.
Nghệ An and Hà Tĩnh are key provinces for SABECO’s business and production activities in central Việt Nam. Over the past few years, the company has become a familiar part of the local community through the presence of Saigon – Nghe Tinh Beer Joint Stock Company, and Saigon Song Lam Beer Joint Stock Company, which are also the top largest contributors to both provincial budgets.
In addition to its business activities, the company has also contributed to improving the quality of life for local communities through the 'Light up Rural' and 'Light up the Borders' programmes in Nghệ An (including Tam Hợp, Bắc Lý and Na Loi communes) and in Hà Tinh (including Hương Lâm, Hương Đỗ, Quang Thọ and Kỳ Nam communes).
Roads are equipped with solar-powered street lights to promote the use of renewable energy, enhance socio-economic infrastructure in rural areas, strengthen public safety and improve living conditions for border communities.
The company has also implemented the 'Fostering Sports' project, upgrading community sports facilities to encourage a balanced and active lifestyle while creating opportunities to foster sports development within local communities.
Through 'Legacy on the Move', SABECO aims not only to inspire the pride of its 150-year heritage, but also to convey the spirit of unity, care and resilience under which every Vietnamese citizen joins hands to continue 'A Living Legacy' journey. — VNS
