HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s National Innovation Center (NIC) under the Ministry of Finance and the Vietnam Intellectual Society in the UK and Ireland (VIS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost cooperation on innovation, creative startups and technology investment links between Việt Nam and the UK.
Both parties will strengthen collaboration among businesses, research institutes and universities, and jointly implement projects across 11 national strategic technology sectors, contributing to building an internationally recognised innovation ecosystem in Việt Nam.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Chí Dũng met with VIS representatives and attended a forum on innovation promotion and strategic technology sector development in London on Friday afternoon (local time).
The forum was part of the Deputy Prime Minister’s official visit to the UK from October 29 to November 1, focusing on science, technology and innovation.
The event drew around 100 delegates, including experts, scientists, entrepreneurs and engineers from Việt Nam working at leading universities, research institutes and technology corporations in the UK and Ireland.
The gathering reflected the unity and intellectual strength of the Vietnamese community at one of the world’s leading innovation hubs.
In his remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Chí Dũng praised the practical and valuable contributions of the delegates.
He encouraged VIS and the broader Vietnamese intellectual community in the UK and Ireland to continue playing an active role by closely connecting with the Vietnam Innovation Network led by NIC.
He also highlighted the need for collaboration in strategic technology sectors where the UK and Ireland hold major strengths, such as AI, semiconductors, quantum technology, renewable energy, advanced biomedical technology, robotics, automation and green finance.
The event in London marked an important milestone in expanding the Việt Nam Innovation Network in Europe and globally, helping to realise the policy of connecting and harnessing Vietnamese intellectual resources worldwide.
The initiative reaffirmed the Government’s determination to promote international cooperation in innovation, digital transformation, human resource development and emerging technologies, contributing to a creative, dynamic and prosperous Việt Nam. — VNS
