In recent years, Vinacomin and the Northeast Corporation have contributed significantly to Quảng Ninh's development. Despite various challenges, the coal industry has ensured stable production, employment, and income for nearly 90,000 workers and officials, solidifying its pivotal role in the province's socio-economic development.

Projections for the end of 2023 indicate that Vinacomin is on track to achieve a domestic production of clean coal of 39.3 million tonnes, equal to 100.4 per cent of the annual plan.

In Quảng Ninh, Vinacomin's production is anticipated to surpass expectations, reaching 37.3 million tonnes. The two thermal power plants in Quảng Ninh are projected to produce 5.9 billion kWh, equivalent to 100 per cent of the plan and a remarkable 135 per cent increase compared to 2022.

The estimated total revenue of the entire Vinacomin is an impressive VNĐ169.5 trillion (US$7.1 billion), equal to 100.4 per cent of the plan, with profits exceeding VNĐ5 trillion. Employment for 77,000 people in Quảng Ninh is expected to remain stable, with average monthly incomes ranging from VNĐ14.9 million to VNĐ15.4 million per person.

In 2023, the coal industry in Quảng Ninh is projected to contribute over VNĐ20.9 trillion to the state budget. Vinacomin's contribution alone is estimated at VNĐ18.5 trillion, reflecting an increase of VNĐ2.1 trillion, surpassing the previous year by an impressive 11.6 per cent.

Vinacomin's international presence is highlighted by the export of over 520,000 tonnes of coal, with an export value exceeding $172 million and contributing over VNĐ410 billion in taxes. Additionally, Vinacomin imports over 6.6 million tonnes of coal, contributing over VNĐ2.3 trillion in taxes.

Looking ahead to 2024, Vinacomin plans to further solidify its role by producing over 35 million tonnes of coal in Quảng Ninh, representing a 2 per cent growth compared to 2023.

The achieved results are a testament to the collaborative efforts, creativity and teamwork spirit of the Vinacomin and the Northeast Corporation. The coal industry has not only received support and coordination from the Central Party and Government, but also garnered attention and assistance from Quảng Ninh Province and local authorities.
