Welcome to Phu Quoc and Sunset Town - a place many people think will be the “new destination of the world”. Could you share your feelings about this beautiful town?

The last time I came here was four years ago, and what Sun Group has invested in the Sunset Town project is beyond my imagination. I appreciate that the design of Sunset Town has extraordinary beauty. I think you’ve got a winning formula right here in Sunset Town.

Sunset Town (Phu Quoc) is expected to be a new destination worldwide.

When you talk about Sunset Town’s potential to become the world’s top new destination, it’s perfectly possible. You can see so many outstanding works worldwide, in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, and even Europe. I think Sunset Town deserves to compete in the “Premier League” among all iconic projects.

Like most destinations worldwide, Paris has Eiffel Tower, and London has Big Ben and Tower Bridge.

Now, Việt Nam has some iconic buildings and tourist destinations, and I think you should recognise Sunset Town as a new development. I believe many festivals and events will be held here, and I think it will become a destination to visit at least once in every international tourist’s life.

When I first saw the stage of the Kiss the Stars show, I wondered, “What is it?” because at first, I didn’t quite understand. But I believe it’s an iconic work, with many events taking place there in the evenings.

If there is one word to describe Sunset Town, it must be “unique”!

What about Kiss Bridge? What is your impression of this bridge?

The Kiss Bridge is an iconic work. You can think of all the famous bridges worldwide, such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the Tower Bridge in London. I envision that in the next 100 years, Kiss Bridge will become an iconic destination. It must be said that Sun Group is a pioneer in building iconic works, and Kiss Bridge is an example of Sun Group’s growth mindset.

I think Kiss Bridge needs an advertising campaign. The outside is a large world with more than 200 countries, many cities, and many iconic bridges. So I think this is probably Kiss Bridge’s point of departure. I suppose that Kiss Bridge has great potential to become a tourist monument.

So in your opinion, how should we make international tourists know and come to Phu Quoc?

I think the first thing to do is to attract more international airlines to open flights to Phu Quoc. As I said, you can’t swim to Phu Quoc; you have to fly, so you should create more international connections for this island, with the biggest airline alliances in the world like Star Alliance, OneWorld, and SkyTeam.

Secondly, you should expand social media and advertisement via websites in various languages. The resorts in Phu Quoc currently have no connection with international languages. The menu is neither in Chinese nor Japanese, or Spanish. To be a premier and global destination, you should build accessibility for the destination.

Moreover, you may focus more on developing sustainability here. In addition to the hospitality or good products from coffee and bamboo, I think that Phu Quoc takes considerable chances in sustainable tourism because this pearl island with wild nature will bring great opportunities to you. It can be said that Phu Quoc is a paradise island.

What about the experiences? In your opinion, what does Phu Quoc have and lack to become an attractive destination for international tourists?

You have human resources, you have infrastructures, and you have various cuisine. It can be said that your culinary experience is the most attractive in the world. I suggest that it is necessary to promote the Vietnamese culinary experience further.

Sunset Town will be shaped as a destination for large-scale events and festivals.

Tourists stay longer, so you must offer your customers more experiences. The key to success is experience. It could be a sustainable experience such as adventure/exploration travel. I also believe you are looking for and exploiting new healthcare experiences in the wellness tourism trend. I look forward to seeing that.

In the future, I think that to keep tourists longer, they need more experience. And if you keep on the pioneer to create new ideas like Kiss Bridge, I’m sure you will create the most attractive tourist experiences. I look forward to seeing these new developments.
