QUẢNG BÌNH — Border guards in the central province of Quảng Bình said yesterday they had caught three Lao suspects attempting to smuggle 24,000 methamphetamine pills into Việt Nam.

The border guards, in collaboration with Lao Khammouane province’s security force, found Thao Keo, Neeng Soong and Kham Phet Chang behaving suspiciously on National Highway 12A last week. A search found 200 packs containing 24,000 pills hidden sophisticatedly on their car and on their bodies. The drugs have a street value of around VNĐ1 billion, or US$44,000.

The three allegedly admitted they were trafficking methaphetamine pills from Laos to sell in Việt Nam.

The three men and seized drugs were handed over to relevant agencies in Laos for further investigation. — VNS
