HCM CITY – Digital signboards displaying bus numbers, arrival time and remaining distance were installed on a trial basis at two HCM City bus stops on Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai Street and An Dương Vương Street on Thursday.

They are the first of their kind in Việt Nam.

According to the Department of Transport’s Management and Operation Centre for Public Transport, if the month-long trial is successful, more of the signs would be installed throughout the city.

The department is also considering simplifying the route maps at bus stops, only listing buses passing through the particular stop instead of the entire city route map.

Bus stops are set to be remodelled with wheelchair ramps and handles to make them more accessible to disabled people. – VNS
