HÀ NỘI — HCM City Tax Department has fined a number of tax violators and managed to reclaim more than VNĐ1.1 trillion (US$51 million) for the State budget in the first four months of this year.

According to the department, after reviewing nearly 9,000 tax records, it found many cases of incorrect tax declarations that led to the lower tax collection for the city.

During the period, the department also checked a total of 5,112 enterprises and carried out 234 tax inspections, finding a number of cases of fraud and tax evasion.

It said domestic enterprises still owed tax debt of more than VNĐ32.834 trillion in the first quarter, up by 34.6 per cent compared with Q4, 2019. — VNS
