Zero-priced supermarket helps struggling locals in HCM City

It’s not uncommon to see random acts of kindness in HCM City.

Local authorities in the northern province of Bắc Giang have started initial steps to restore ancient relics on the West Yên Tử mountain range, where King-Monk Trần Nhân Tông (1258-1308) studied and practiced Buddhism.

The northern province of Bắc Giang will host a Culture - Tourism Week from February 14 to 20 with a theme ‘Discover Sacred Land in Tây Yên Tử’.

On February 2, 2019, as a new spring arrived full of vitality in the Northwest highlands, tourists and Buddhists contemplated the Buddha’s sacred relics placed solemnly inside statue of the Great Amitabha Buddha. This is the tallest bronze Buddha statue in Việt Nam, located in the majestic spiritual complex on Fansipan Summit.

Monks and Buddhist followers were among the volunteer donors at an event held at Vĩnh Nghiêm Pagoda in HCM City’s District 3 on Sunday (August 12).

Ancient pagoda preserves World Documentary Heritage

Vĩnh Nghiêm Pagoda was built by the Lý Dynasty in the 11th century and is considered as the first Buddhism university of Việt Nam and the place of origin of Trúc Lâm Zen Buddhism.

The capital city of Ha Noi has launched an initiative – lending visitors a longsleeved shirt or dress that stretches to below the knee, so that inappropriately clad visitors, local and foreign, can enter places of worship and other important sites with due respect for local culture and religious traditions.

Veteran director Lê Mộng Hoàng, who rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s, passed away on February 23 at his home in HCM City after a long illness due to heart disease. He was 88.
