HÀ NỘI — Lê Nguyệt Minh won the third stage of the Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa (NKKN) cycling race on Wednesday.
Minh from Minh Giang-HCM City won the 145km stage from Kratle to Stung Treng in Cambodia with a time of 3:52.10 and an average speed of 37.473km/h.
Ali Khademi of Lộc Trời Group and Lê Văn Duẩn of VUS-HCM City were the runners-up.
With this win, Minh took the green jersey award for the best sprinter with 50 points, followed by Mai Nguyễn Hưng of VUS-HCM City with 36 points and Nguyễn Tấn Hoài of Domesco Phamarcy Đồng Tháp with 24 points.
With the total time of 8:59.00, Minh retained the yellow leader’s jersey after three stages.
Nguyễn Đắc Thời of Lộc Trời Group took the white jersey for the best young cyclist from Kim Chanlou of Cambodia.
In the team rankings, VUS-HCM City took the lead with a total time of 26:58.39. Domesco Phamarcy Đồng Tháp and Bike Life ĐN were in second and third.
Seventy-two cyclists from 12 domestic and international teams will pedal through 12 stages for a total length of nearly 1,750km through Việt Nam, Laos and Cambodia.
This is the first time in Vietnamese cycling a race has been held in multiple countries.
The event, which has been part of the national competition system since 2009, will run until December 22. — VNS
