A strong sprint saw South Korean professional cyclist Im Jaeyeon win the eighth stage of VTV International Cycling Tournament – Tôn Hoa Sen Cup yesterday.

HÀ NỘI — A strong sprint saw South Korean professional cyclist Im Jaeyeon win the eighth stage of VTV International Cycling Tournament – Tôn Hoa Sen Cup yesterday.

Im won the 50km around Tam Kỳ capital city of Quảng Nam Province with a time of 1:11.18. Nguyễn Thành Tâm from Tập Đoàn Lộc Trời and Arin Iswana from PGN Indonesia finished the line at second and third.

With this victory, Im (102 points), of the Korail Cycle Team, has shorten the gap with David Van Eerd of Netherlands’ Global Cycling Team (117 points), who still retains both yellow and green jerseys holder after eight stages.

The team rankings were unchanged. Lộc Trời Group lead with the overall best time of 60:17.07, followed by Bike Life Đồng Nai and Domesco Pharmacy Đồng Tháp.

The white jersey for the best placed young cyclist went to Huỳnh Thanh Tùng of Military Zone 7.

Stage 9, with a total length of 242km from Tam Kỳ city to coastal city of Quy Nhơn, will take place today. — VNS
