Singapore won the women's epee team title while Việt Nam secured the men's sabre team title in the fencing in Hà Nội on May 16.
Singapore defeated Thailand in the women's final match, which was held at the Mỹ Đình Indoor Athletics Palace. Việt Nam and the Philippines, which lost in the semifinal matches, shared third place.
The Việt Nam team led by veteran athlete Vũ Thành An met almost no difficulty to beat Thailand 45-28 in the final and defended their title.
Earlier, they won 45-35 over Singapore in the semi-finals.
Prior to the final, An who won the individual sabre title last week was awarded the certificate of merit by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism for his achievement at the SEA Games 31. An has now won six Games titles.
"The certificate was a strong push for me ahead of the final. I competed in the first and the last matches. There was a little pressure but I made it," An said.
It was Việt Nam's fourth fencing gold at the tournament following three individual titles in the previous days.
In the next few days, athletes will take part in the men's épée team and women's sabre team events.
