A barrage of intense storms, rain and flooding have severely affected life and caused losses in central Việt Nam this year. During this difficult time we have seen the kindness and generosity of the government, businesses and people across the country through the outpouring of timely and practical support for the victims.

HCM CITY Over the past three months natural disasters have caused loss of human life and damaged property in the central region. In October hundreds of people were reported dead or missing, and some 112,000 houses were damaged. The loss of property was estimated at more than VNĐ2.8 billion.

In order to alleviate the suffering of flood victims, many businesses and social organisations helped with the post-flood recovery.

To help the central region shoulder the burden on the healthcare system as a result of the disasters, Bayer Vietnam, with the support of the HCM City Women’s Charity Association, sponsored 3,000 healthcare items including vitamins and feminine hygiene products, enabling people in the affected areas to safeguard their health and overcome difficulties.

Thai Peng Mak, head of Bayer Vietnam’s consumer health division, said: “Enabling access to health for everyone is a core value at Bayer. Having the right self-care solutions at home is increasingly important as is managing the demands on our healthcare system. Bayer hopes that our support will help people in central Vietnam and their families maintain and improve their health during this difficult time.”

As  2020 is closed but we still have been witnessing the tragic consequences of natural disasters in many central provinces. Being traditionally resilient, people there are trying hard to overcome painful experiences thanks to the support of their fellow citizens and organisations across the country, including Bayer.

Across the central region, we have seen many houses being rebuilt and children smiling and waiting to go back to school.

Our love and compassion have been a great source of spiritual strength for the survivors as they try to rebuild their lives.
