Five new imported cases of COVID-19 reported

Five new imported cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Việt Nam on Sunday evening, bringing the total number of infections to 1,074.

HÀ NỘI — Five new imported cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Việt Nam on Sunday evening, bringing the total number of infections to 1,074.

All of them are aged between 27 and 34 and reside in the northern province of Hà Nam. They landed at Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport in HCM City on September 25 on flight VN5010 from France and were quarantined upon arrival.

They tested positive for the coronavirus the next day and are being treated at Bình Dương General Hospital.

Việt Nam has now gone 25 consecutive days without any community spread of the virus.

Among all the cases, 691 are domestically infected cases, including 551 recorded since the new outbreak began on July 25.

As many as 999 COVID-19 patients have been given the all-clear. The death toll remains at 35, mostly elderly people with serious underlying health conditions.

Among patients under treatment, there are no longer any critical cases.

At present, close to 16,830 people having close contact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit regions are under quarantine. — VNS
