HẢI PHÒNG — A fire starting at about 9pm on Monday destroyed thousands of square metres of a wooden furniture storehouse in Hồng Bàng District, the northern city of Hải Phòng.

According to local police, the storehouse of Hoa Đại Ltd Company in Hùng Vương Ward contained flammable goods, mostly wooden furniture like beds, wardrobes, tables, chairs, paints and chemicals.

The storehouse is located near a petroleum storehouse, so firefighters sprayed water to cool down the neighbourhood and minimise the risk of the fire spreading.

Ten fire engines and hundreds of firefighters were mobilised to control the fire.

By midnight, the fire was under control but as of Tuesday morning, firefighters were still working to prevent the fire from breaking out again.
