HẢI DƯƠNG — More than 72 tonnes of animal organs and tonnes of food additive and whitening substances have been discovered at a store in the northern province of Hải Dương.
The discovery was made by the Chí Linh City Market Watch Team No 2 in co-ordination with the municipal police.
The store is in Tân Dân Ward, Chí Linh District on a farm belonging to a man named Trần Lợi.
The goods smelt like they were going off, said the team.
Besides the internal organs, the store also contains different kinds of food additives and substances to deodorise and whiten the goods.
Lợi admitted that the goods were owned by Nguyễn Duy Huy from Bình Giang District.
Duy admitted that he had bought the internal organs from different places and none of them had clear origin. The goods were purchased at the beginning of this year and moved to the store on March 19.
He intended to use food additive and whitening substances to treat the organs and then resell as foodstuff for cattle, but he could not implement the plan due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has affected trading.
The Market Watch Team No 2 temporarily seized all of the goods, worth VNĐ1.1 billion (US$47,800), and will work with concerned organisations to resolve the case. — VNS
