HÀ NỘI — Deputy Prime Minister Trịnh Đình Dũng has asked the Ministry of Transport to consider halting the implementation of a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) transport project that connects the provinces of Bình Dương and Long An.
According to deputy transport minister Nguyễn Ngọc Đông, the financial plan for the HCM Expressway section running through Chơn Thành-Đức Hòa is unfeasible and will not attract investors.
To recoup investment, the investor has to build two toll booths to collect fees. People living around the area have to pay fees and are opposed to such a plan.
The transport ministry realised the inappropriate plan of BOT fee collection and decided to seek approval from the Government in order to stop the project's implementation.
