BÌNH ĐỊNH Three sailors in central Bình Định Province’s Quy Nhơn City died of suffocation after entering the storage cabin of their boat on Wednesday.

The cabin of the Thành Công 98 boat, anchored at Tân Cảng Port, contained molasses.

The incident occurred when the first sailor entered the cabin to unload goods and fell unconscious. Two other sailors entered the cabin to rescue their colleague but fainted as well.

All three were found dead on being removed from the cabin.

The victims were initially believed to have suffocated and died. They entered the cabin immediately after opening it, when it was not completely free of toxic gases.

The case is under investigation. VNS
