NAM ĐỊNH — Police in the northern province of Nam Định announced on Wednesday they have arrested two suspected drug dealers and seized 45kg of synthetic drugs and 30 heroin packs.
The provincial police said they uncovered a trafficking ring that illegally transported synthetic drugs from Laos to the northern provinces for sale via the Bờ Y border gate in Ngọc Hồi District in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum.
The two suspects are Nguyễn Thị Quyên, 46, from Hùng Tiến Commune, Kim Sơn District, Ninh Bình Province, and Đào Thị Lan, 38, from Yên Ninh town, Yên Khánh District, Ninh Bình Province.
The two were caught red-handed in Nghĩa Sơn Commune, Nghĩa Hưng District, while transporting the drugs on motorbikes on Monday.
Đặng Văn Sinh, director of the Nam Định Police, said the drugs were put in small plastic bags and hidden in their luggage to avoid detection by authorities.
Further investigation into the case is underway. — VNS
