HẢI PHÒNG — A huge flyover that spans the major, congested Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm-Lê Hồng Phong intersection in the northern city of Hải Phòng opened to the public on Wednesday.
The flyover, which cost around VNĐ310 billion (US$13.7 million), is 267.6m long and 16m wide, with four lanes for traffic, and has a speed limit of 60km/h.
The project was completed at a record construction time of seven months. The flyover’s lifespan is expected to be 100 years.
One of the most heavily congested spots in Hải Phòng, the Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm-Lê Hồng Phong intersection connects two major roads in the city. Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm is part of national highway No. 5 and runs through the local urban area, while Lê Hồng Phong is the main road leading to Cát Bi international airport. — VNS
