HCM CITY — Nhân Dân Gia Định Hospital, one of the leading medical facilities in HCM City, has launched an artificial intelligence (AI) robot to assist patients and visitors with reception and guidance work at the hospital’s main entrance.

The robot, which is programmed to communicate by voice, can give directions, lead patients to where they need to go, and provide information about services and prices.

Dr. Trần Minh Hiền from the hospital’s Digital Transformation Department, said the hospital piloted the model of “AI Robot Receptionist” to reduce the workload for medical staff and improve the medical examination and treatment experience.

This is the latest generation of robots, and the hospital expects the model to be replicated after two weeks of testing, he said.

The deployment of robots marks a new step forward in the application of technology in healthcare, contributing to improving service quality and building the image of a modern, patient-friendly hospital environment, he said.

In the coming time, the hospital will not only apply robots in reception and guidance work but also expand to the field of logistics, such as transporting medicine and equipment. — VNS
