KON TUM — The People's Committee of Kon Tum province has issued Official Dispatch No. 1298/UBND-KGVX to strengthen the management of workers working abroad under contract.

The People's Committee of Kon Tum Province assigned the Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs to coordinate with localities to closely supervise the activities of companies providing services that help workers going abroad to work.

The department needs to fully inform workers of the State's regulations so that workers comply with Vietnamese law and the laws of the receiving country while also highlighting the dangers and risks that workers face when working and residing illegally.

It is to regularly monitor and coordinate with the Department of Overseas Labour Management (Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs) and relevant authorities to update information on provincial citizens working abroad under contract, or returning home after contracts expire to coordinate measures to intervene and promptly handle any issues, while also support and protect the legal rights of workers while working abroad.

The Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Kon Tum province is also responsible for asking companies to report to local authorities any problems arising from workers while working in foreign countries under contract.

It is currently working with companies and authorities to resolve cases where workers were unable to return to Việt Nam or has not receive wages according to their contract. — VNS
